So where did it all start
Once qualified I always knew I wanted to practise as a clinical Naturopath so I created Fremantle Natural Health.
It started with Laura, a Fremantle local for over 25 years
Fremantle itself is an iconic place with a left of centre, earth based culture, so the clinic resonates with that. Natural, wholistic health.
Why did I choose to be a Naturopath?
I had always loved the fact that someone could be ill and there are plants growing in the ground that can be used to heal. This idea fascinated me and I wanted to learn more.
I have always found myself left of mainstream medicine. Hesitant to take a Panadol for a headache, tried but didn’t like going on the pill, lived a lifestyle connected with nature and environmental activism. I spent most of my 20’s travelling and working in kitchens as a cook. When I was 27 and pregnant I realised I wanted to create a career pathway that was more fulfilling and engaging.
I had always loved the fact that someone could be ill and there are plants growing in the ground that can be used to heal. This idea that the earth has a pharmacy available for us fascinates me and I wanted to learn more. I wanted to learn how to help other people who wanted to try something natural to improve their health rather than take a chemical drug. As I have matured I see the benefits of both western allopathic medicine and herbal/nutritional medicine and would love to see them compliment each other more as we move into the future.
I also see that what I offer as Naturopath as well as Natural medicine is time, genuine connection with my clients and concern for thier wellbeing. We work together.
What about Kinesiology?
Integrating Kinesiology and Naturopathy has been an amazing experience for our practice.
After completing my degree in Naturopathy I heard a few people talk positively about their experiences with a Kinesiologist, so I decided to go to a weekend workshop and was instantly hooked. I completed a two year diploma in Kinesiology.
Integrating Kinesiology and Naturopathy has been an amazing advantage for me with how I work as a Naturopath. All foods can be muscle tested for intolerance and all supplements and herbs can be checked to ensure they suit the individual.
I love woking energetically and emotionally with my clients using Kinesiology balances. Integrating the physiological and emotional elements of a person so they can heal and improve their health and wellness. I am learning more about this integration all the time and am very excited about my skills as an energetic practitioner as they grow and improve.
"I am constantly learning and constantly growing as a practitioner. I will never be bored with what I do and I will always be trying new things and integrating what I know with what I am learning."
~ Laura, Founder of Fremantle Natural Health
Family, nutrition and passion
I am lucky I can treat my family with the skills and knowledge I acquire as a Naturopath and Kinesiologist
Being a single mum for 8 years and pushing through my studies was a struggle but I am truly passionate about my work and as hard as it was at times, it has given me a strong sense of fulfilment and joy.
I love that I am constantly learning and constantly growing as a practitioner. I will never be bored with what I do and I will always be trying new things and integrating what I know with what I am learning.
I am married now and have three beautiful children the second youngest of whom has Down’s syndrome. Rose has proven to me the power on health and cognition of a clean diet and daily supplementation. As a 5 year old she can swallow capsules and is generally happy to take what I offer her – although still pretty fussy with food, she is getting better. If only my husband were so compliant with my supplement recommendations for him – Haha!

Where to from here?
We believe natural medicine should be accessible to everyone.
We’d like to integrate more garden herbs and culinary herbs from the kitchen into homemade remedies and formulas. I am a gardener and I am growing herbs in my place in Hamilton Hill. In terms of where I want to head and where I want Fremantle Natural Health to head moving into the future is to have a strong grass roots connection with herbal medicine. I’d like to integrate more garden herbs and culinary dried herbs in the kitchen into homemade remedies and formulas. Natural medicine should be accessible to everyone.
